I’m still cat sitting, but his family will be home soon. Today I brought Snoopy a little recreational drug (catnip from my garden) to pass the time.
This morning Snoopy wanted me to know that my services were no longer required. He feels perfectly capable of opening doors and finding his own food, thank you very much.
The shelter tries hard to place cats together when they have been life-long companions. It makes finding the right home a little harder. In the meantime, at least they have each other.
This is Houston, who is new to the shelter. According to Wikipedia, in Turkey he might be considered a national treasure with eyes “as green as the lake and as blue as the sky.” He’ll be someone’s treasure soon, I hope.
The cats enjoy hand-me-down furniture at the shelter. Many of them add their own touches to the decor.
The tortoiseshell and calico cats are almost always girls, and it seems as though they have stronger personalities too. Wikipedia says tortoiseshell cats are also called ‘calimanco or clouded tiger’. With that title, no wonder they have an attitude!
Six years ago we adopted Gracie from PAWS. She was thrilled with her party hat and Tommie gave her a kiss.
